Key Features
gile[s] contains the following features:
Advanced Lightmapping Features
- Full Global Illumination (GI), including color bleeding, geometry lights, transparency, masking, double sided materials and much much more
- Switch between direct light only and full GI
- Adjustable number of GI Iterations
- Fast Sky Light, to simulate outdoor scenery
- Toggle shadows, for quick previews
- Soft Shadows, with adjustable sampling rate
- Toon Shading, for stylized cartoon style environments
- Automatic post processing (can be disabled)
- Mix and match lightmaps and vertex lighting as you please
Lightmaps
- Unlimited number of lightmaps
- Share lightmaps between as many or few materials as you like
- Intelligent geometry analysis resulting in least cut/dissection lightmaps
- Effecient packing, maximizes the efficiency of each lightmap
- Paint directly to lightmaps (and vertex lighting) to add fine details
- Automatic adjustment of lumel size, so no need to tweak any obscure parameters
- Pack Once technology, so you don't have to wait if you tweak simple things between rendering
- Resize lightmaps after rendering
Lights
- Omni, with adjustable attenuation
- Spot, with adjustable attenuation and cone
- Directional, with adjustable attenuation and radial falloff
- Ambient, with adjustable attenuation
- Sky Light, simulating atmospheric light (only available when rendering full GI)
- Change lights between modes easily
Materials
- Switch between lightmaps, vertex lighting, or no lighting methods
- Adjust how the material affects the lighting, including receive light from back, cast shadows, receive shadows, affect global illumination, receive global illumination
- Alpha, Additive and Multiply blending
- Shininess, Alpha, and Self Illumination
- Up to 7 texture layers
- Load, swap, and apply textures easily, a wealth of texture options are available
Interface
- Intuitive and clean interface
- Easy access to all models, lights and materials
- Custom properties, allows you to write scripts from within gile[s]
- Smart Manipulation, takes advantage of all mouse buttons when moving, rotating, scaling models and view
- 7 different views (Perspective, Front, Back, Bottom, Top, Left, Right)
- Lighting Method browser
- Texture browser and viewer
- 100 levels of undo
